How to use on Fortnite
- Type your text above and tap Copy on the style you like.
- Open Fortnite and go to Epic Games account page > Display Name.
- Paste into Epic Games display name and save โ the style stays because these are real Unicode characters.
Measured: what each style does to your text
Every number below comes from running the styles in this page's tool over the same test word, Fortnite (8 UTF-16 units). "Units" is how apps actually count a field: characters outside the Basic Multilingual Plane (most emoji, some decorative letters) count as two. Plain text is the baseline at 1.00×.
| Style | Units | vs plain | Fortnite, styled |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bold Fraktur | 16 | 2.00× | ๐ฑ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ |
| Fraktur | 16 | 2.00× | ๐๐ฌ๐ฏ๐ฑ๐ซ๐ฆ๐ฑ๐ข |
| Bold (Serif) | 16 | 2.00× | ๐ ๐จ๐ซ๐ญ๐ง๐ข๐ญ๐ |
| Sans-Serif Bold | 16 | 2.00× | ๐๐ผ๐ฟ๐๐ป๐ถ๐๐ฒ |
| Double-Struck | 16 | 2.00× | ๐ฝ๐ ๐ฃ๐ฅ๐๐๐ฅ๐ |
| Zalgo (Light) | 27 | 3.38× | Fอฬoฬฬrฬฬฬ อtออฬnฬiฬฟฬฬtฬฬฬeอ |
6 of the 6 styles come out longer than plain text โ because the style stacks a combining mark on top of each letter instead of swapping it. Zalgo (Light) is the most expensive at 3.38×, so a name that barely fits a fixed field limit in plain letters will not fit in that style. Shorten the word first, then switch styles.
Which characters actually get styled
Not every style covers every key. The table runs all 62 letters and digits through each style and lists what stays as plain text โ those are the characters that will look out of place in the middle of a styled word.
| Style | Styled | Left as plain text |
|---|---|---|
| Bold (Serif) | 62/62 | โ |
| Sans-Serif Bold | 62/62 | โ |
| Double-Struck | 62/62 | โ |
| Zalgo (Light) | 62/62 | โ |
| Bold Fraktur | 52/62 | 0123456789 |
| Fraktur | 52/62 | 0123456789 |
4 of 6 styles cover the full set. The uneven ones are the small-caps family and superscript/subscript, where Unicode simply never defined those glyphs โ Bold Fraktur scores lowest at 52 of 62. Lowercase letters are usually the first gap: many styles only exist as uppercase blocks, so they map lowercase onto capital shapes and leave punctuation untouched.
Practically: type the word you want with Fortnite in mind and check it in the preview above before copying. If a letter refuses to change, it is a coverage gap in the style, not a bug in the tool โ switch to a neighbouring style that covers the full set.
Common mistakes on Fortnite
- Overloading โ more than 2-3 styled words or a wall of symbols makes your Epic Games display name unreadable. Style one key word, keep the rest plain.
- Ignoring character limits โ decorated text often counts double; if paste fails, shorten the text first.
- Mixing too many styles โ pick one font style plus one symbol set for your Fortnite display name; consistency reads as intentional, chaos reads as spam.
- Boxes (โก) instead of characters โ rare glyphs may not render on old devices; preview on your phone before publishing.
- Troubleshooting: if a paste loses formatting, the app likely strips Unicode in that field โ try a different field or a simpler style (bold/italic survive almost everywhere).
FAQ
Do these fonts work on Fortnite?
Yes โ Epic display names support many Unicode letters; avoid combining marks that break line height. Just copy and paste; no app or font install needed.
How do I change my Epic Games display name on Fortnite?
Copy a style or symbol here, then go to Epic Games account page > Display Name and paste it in.
What if Fortnite rejects the paste or shows boxes?
Two causes, one check each. Length: styled text can run 2-3 times the units of plain text, so shorten the word and retry before assuming the field is blocked. Glyphs: pasting into Epic Games display name goes through the app's own font, and rare symbols fall back to a hollow box there. Switch to bold, italic, small-caps or plain ASCII symbols, which render on essentially every device.
