How to use

Click any face to copy it, then paste it into chats, comments, bios or posts. These are text — no emoji keyboard needed, and they work on virtually every platform.

Looking for single symbols instead? Try the Symbol Library, or wrap the face into a decorated name with the Stylish Name Generator.

Which face for which moment

The 107 faces above are text, so any of them works anywhere — the real decision is tone. The mapping below is how each category is actually used, not a rule: internet tone is famously ambiguous, so treat it as a starting point, not a lookup table.

CategoryFacesWidestEmojiWhen to use it
Classic Lenny15120memes, teasing, inside jokes — the “I know what I'm doing” face
Happy & Smiling16130greetings, good news, friendly replies — the first message of a chat
Sad & Crying14130sympathy, venting, self-deprecating complaints — ask for comfort
Angry & Annoyed13100rants, losing a game, mock outrage — hot reaction, not real anger
Shrug & Whatever12231“I don't know”, “whatever”, nonchalance — closing an argument
Table Flip & Rage10200exaggerated meltdown, dramatic meme reaction — the big gesture
Animals & Cute Creatures15110cute replies, wholesome comments, fandom love — soft energy
Love & Hearts12120thanks, confessions, anniversaries — warm, affectionate moments

Two measured caveats. Width first: the widest face here is 23 columns (in Shrug & Whatever), and a phone chat line is about 20-28 columns, so long faces and chained ones wrap mid-face. When one wraps, the second line is a stack of stray symbols — pick a shorter face or split the joke into two messages. Emoji second: only 1 of the 107 faces is a real emoji (a non-BMP character); the other 106 are plain BMP text characters, so they render on every device and font, which is exactly why kaomoji survive where emoji get boxed on old builds.

How to type a Lenny face by hand (Alt codes)

There is no single Alt code for the whole face — it is a string of separate Unicode characters. On Windows, turn Num Lock on, then hold Alt and type each decimal code on the numeric keypad, in this order:

Alt+40 → Spacebar → Alt+865 → Alt+176 → Spacebar → Alt+860 → Alt+662 → Spacebar → Alt+865 again → Alt+176 again → Alt+41

CharCodepointAlt codeUnicode name

°U+00B0176Degree Sign
͜U+035C860Combining Double Breve Below
ʖU+0296662Latin Letter Inverted Glottal Stop
)U+002941Right Parenthesis

2 of the 6 distinct characters are combining marks — they do not occupy a column of their own, they attach to the neighbour, which is why the face is only about 7 columns wide on screen while costing more codepoints. Mac has no Alt codes: use Edit → Emoji & Symbols to insert characters by codepoint (type the hex value then press Return), or just copy the face above — that is what most people do, and what the copy buttons are for.
