Zero Width Space & Invisible Characters — Copy & Paste

Copy invisible characters (zero width space, Hangul filler, Braille blank) for blank names, invisible separators and empty-looking messages.

Tap Copy on the character you need — it is invisible, so trust the toast. Then paste it where you need a blank.

Zero Width Space · U+200B[] ← tap Copy (the classic invisible character, best for blank names)
Zero Width Non-Joiner · U+200C[‌] ← tap Copy (invisible, prevents characters from joining)
Zero Width Joiner · U+200D[‍] ← tap Copy (invisible, used to combine emoji)
Word Joiner · U+2060[] ← tap Copy (invisible, prevents line breaks)
No-Break Space · U+00A0[ ] ← tap Copy (looks like a space but does not break lines)
Hangul Filler · U+3164[ㅤ] ← tap Copy (a wide blank character, popular for blank usernames)
Braille Blank · U+2800[⠀] ← tap Copy (blank Braille pattern, very reliable blank character)

What is a zero-width character?

Zero-width characters are real Unicode characters that take up no visible space. Apps see them as text, so a "blank" name or message that contains one passes validation that rejects empty input.

Common uses

Fair use: some platforms treat invisible names as abuse and may reset them. Use responsibly.

Which invisible character to actually use

The seven characters above all look identical on screen and behave completely differently when pasted. The decisive column is the Unicode general category, because it predicts what a name field will do with the character: 4 of the seven are format characters (Cf), which are zero width by definition and are exactly what input validators are written to strip.

CharacterCode pointUnitsCategoryColumnsWhat the app sees
Zero Width SpaceU+200B1Cf1format character — zero width, the first thing a validator strips
Zero Width Non-JoinerU+200C1Cf1format character — zero width, the first thing a validator strips
Zero Width JoinerU+200D1Cf1format character — zero width, the first thing a validator strips
Word JoinerU+20601Cf1format character — zero width, the first thing a validator strips
No-Break SpaceU+00A01Zs1real space character — survives validation, behaves as a space
Hangul FillerU+31641Lo2ordinary letter to the app — invisible only because the glyph is blank
Braille BlankU+28001So1symbol character — drawn by the font, blank by design

Read the last column as a survival ranking. A Cf character passes a “field must not be empty” check and fails a “field must contain a letter” check; a blank letter or symbol (1 of the seven occupy two columns) is a real character to every validator, so it survives both — at the cost of taking up visible space, which is why the Hangul filler works as a blank name but leaves a gap the width of a Chinese character.

Practical order to try: Zero Width Space first, because it is the standard character and most apps pass it through; Braille Blank or Hangul Filler when the app rejects the zero-width one; No-Break Space when you want an invisible character that still works as a separator between visible words. If all four are refused, the field is filtering invisible characters deliberately and there is no character that will get around it.

FAQ

How do I make a blank / invisible name?

Copy the Hangul Filler or a few Zero Width Spaces above, then paste them into the name field. The app sees text, so the field is not empty, but nothing shows.

Which invisible character should I use?

Hangul Filler (U+3164) works in most games and apps. Zero Width Space (U+200B) is the standard invisible character; some apps strip it, so try the Braille Blank (U+2800) as a fallback.

Is this free and safe?

Completely free, runs in your browser, nothing is uploaded. Note some platforms disallow invisible names and may reset them.
