Reverse Text Generator — Backwards Copy & Paste
Flip your text backwards (sdrawkcab) instantly. Type once, copy the reversed text for jokes, puzzles, hidden messages and memes. Free, no sign-up.
The reverse version updates as you type — tap Copy.
This reverse text generator flips your text so it reads backwards — 'hello' becomes 'olleh'. Use it for mirror bios, puzzle captions, secret messages and meme replies.
The output is plain text in reverse order, so it works everywhere text is accepted: comments, bios, Discord messages and games.
Examples
How the flip works
No character is swapped here — every letter keeps its normal shape and only the order is reversed. That means the output is exactly as readable as the input, just mirrored, and it stays fully reversible: flip it again and you get your text back character for character.
Where it goes wrong
The usual complaint is that the last word you typed shows up first, so the sentence reads backwards when scanned left to right. For a single word or a short name that is the whole point; for a sentence, expect readers to work at it. Spaces reverse along with everything else, which is why a two-word phrase looks like the words switched places.
Pasting and platform support
Because the characters are untouched, reversed text is the most compatible decorative style on this site — every app that accepts Unicode renders it, with no risk of missing glyphs. It is also safe in fields with strict character limits, since the length never grows.
Reversed or upside-down — which one
These two are the only styles on this site that do not build a decorated alphabet, and they are often described as the same thing. They are not: one reorders the string, the other replaces every glyph with a rotated one. Running both over the same four inputs shows the difference in the last two columns, which are the change in length each produces.
| Input | Reversed | Upside down | Δ units | Δ units |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| hello | olleh | ollǝɥ | +0 | +0 |
| good vibes | sebiv doog | sǝqᴉʌ pooƃ | +0 | +0 |
| meet at 9 | 9 ta teem | 6 ʇɐ ʇǝǝɯ | +0 | +0 |
| let it go | og ti tel | oƃ ʇᴉ ʇǝl | +0 | +0 |
Reversed text never changes the character set or the length — the last column for that tool is always zero — so it is the safest decorative style to paste into a field with a hard limit, and it stays fully reversible: flip it again and the original comes back exactly. What it does cost is scanning order, which is fine for a single word and tiring for a sentence.
Upside-down swaps each glyph for a rotated counterpart, which means it depends on Unicode having defined that counterpart. Where one is missing the character stays upright, so a mixed phrase can end up with some letters turned and others not — visible in the table above as the only row where the two columns disagree completely. Use reversed when the field is tight or the text has to be recoverable; use upside-down when the visual gag is the point and you can see the whole string in the preview before posting.
